
David Baltzer is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran from St. Catherines who saw two tours of duty in Afghanistan. When David was at his lowest point in his struggles with PTSD, he reached out to Veterans Affairs Canada for help. Instead of providing support, they suggested he use MAID.
Kathrin Mentler is a resident of British Columbia and was studying to become a counsellor. In Spring of 2023, Kathrin found herself in crisis and turned to the healthcare system to keep herself safe. Instead of being provided with the care she needed, counsellors told her there was no help and that she should consider MAID.


Cpl. Christine Gauthier has represented Canada to the world twice, as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, and as a paralympian. Christine has been using a wheelchair since she was injured in the military, when she was trying to request a ramp for her home, Veterans Affairs employees offered her MAID instead.
Tracy Polewczuk lives with a condition that leaves her in constant pain and she relies on daily home care visits. Unfortunately, the quality of care she receives has gotten worse, with the care workers not even bothering to learn her name. Without being prompted, Tracy has been offered MAID twice by the people who are supposed to be helping her.


Despite living with Cerebral Palsy since a young age, Heather Hancock has had a successful career as an author. When Heather was being treated for muscle spasms, staff suggested to her that she was being selfish by continuing to live and that she should opt for MAID.
